Editorial Review:

Product Description:
"I completely and totally remember what it's like graduating from college and having absolutely no clue what to do with my life."
--Charlie Drozdyk

Sound familiar? Then turn off the tube, get off the couch, and read this book. Why this book? Drozdyk isn't one of those so-called career experts who tells others how to get a job but hasn't gotten one himself in years. He has learned firsthand how to open doors that seem jammed shut and get an offer over hundreds of other applicants. His advice comes straight from the employment trenches. Here's his advice on:

Deciding which job is right for you--and which ones will lead to a life of eternal misery
Resumes and cover letters--what works, what sucks, what you can get away with
Interviewing Hell--staying cool in the hot seat
Successful
Getting your boss to love you--and giving good phone
Moving up the ladder--from being an assistant to having one

Full of interviews with people in cool jobs, such as fashion editors, film producers, advertising copywriters, TV execs, and pop-culture critics, Jobs That Don't Suck shows you how to get ahead and stay ahead.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A book that fits to my own experience
Although it is written in a very racey style, the main message of this book is refresheningly simple and to-the-point. Additionally it is exactly fitting to my own experiences when looking for a job. I therefore can (and have) recommended to anyone coming fresh into the marketplace and starting to look for a job.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - For fake, workaholic sycophants only
The title of this book caught my eye at the library. The book started out well enough--the author's humorous, casual tone was a refreshing step up from most job books. He seemed to be gearing the book toward liberal arts majors like myself with no particular direction in life. The information not really anything new, with tidbits such as "it's not what you know, it's who you know, so make friends with people who can help you get a job", but it was fun to read.

If you are a young ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - not without cost
There is no doubt that this book is well put together and far easier to read than the standard fare on offer in relation to this subject. The advice provided on how to get a job is helpful and practical, as well as being a pretty amusing read.

I already had my first real position for a couple of months when I acquired this title, so the parts on how to do well in a job were of more interest. I studied and followed these sections carefully. I must say that the advice in the book is what it ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This book does not suck!
This book beats them all - it's hysterical, practical and doesn't make any of it seem like it is supposed to be easy. I will admit that, as a 28 year old with a liberal arts degree in a ... job, this book was aimed directly at me. I especially like his perspective that nobody deserves anything and its a massive competition. His writing style is very entertaining and the information is down-to-earth and brutally honest. Now for the hard part - putting in into practice...!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - For The Young Set
The author came to my college a few years ago to promote this book, but I didn't get much from it that I didn't already know. I had been working full-time for years at that point (and attending college at the same time). However, the author presented this material as if it something that had never been done before. I guess it would be a revelation to the twentysomethings that it's geared towards, esp. those with little to no work experience. I don't knock most of the advice that's included in the book, ...
