![]() Rating: - Perfect........Just PerfectMike Oldfield's pinnacle of musical expression. Period. Deliberately paced, superbly orchestrated, brilliantly performed, and powerfully passionate. Mike Oldfield reached new heights on this album, and I remember being blown away when it came out - I nearly wore out the 4 sides of the double LP (and drove my college roomates crazy doing so). To this day, I listen to the entire album nonstop, as it deserves. The Song To Hiawatha part, with Maddy Prior, is especially ethereal, and the finale is ... Read More Rating: - An Epic Soundtrack to Realms of Fantasy and MagicOriginally released in December of 1978 "Incantations" saw a rejuvenated Mike Oldfield emerge after three years of relative silence, no longer the sombre, shy, and introverted young musician. For those familiar with Mike Oldfield, I will state up front that this review is not directed at you: you already have your opinions as to which Mike Oldfield albums are ... Read More Rating: - Good but repetitiveWhen this album came out, it was a double LP. It probably should have been condensed into one album. This release has some of the best sections of Oldfield music in existence, mostly contained in Parts 1 and 3. Many other parts of the album are, however, very repetitive and grate. The Song of Hiawatha poem in part 2 is quite nice but, once again, goes on too long. This CD is certainly worth picking up, if nothing else for the first and third parts. Even these are repetitive in places, however. ... Read More Browse for similar items by category:
