my sister uses her olympus audio recorder at school for recording lectures. i bought this for her so she could record the teacher even from far away. the audio quality of her recordings is better with it! now she thanks me for buying this for her.

Works very well picks up everything I need it to. No caveats. The audio files are right and tight. No odd swishing or weird "extras" like delays or echos. I start the recorder and leave it on the desk as I lecture and wander around the front of the room.

Small mic + small price = small quality. Buyer beware, you get what you pay for. I'd recommend spending twice the money for something else. I'm not even sure this mic improved my sound quality at all.

- Good for a laptop add-on, but angle can't be adjusted
I bought this to add a microphone to my laptop (for Skype). It works fine, I have a input jack on the right of my laptop.

For proper use, the sound must be directed into the TOP of the mic. So in order for the person to hear me I have to cock my laptop to the side. It would be much nicer if the angle of the head was adjustable so I sit directly in front of my laptop and people hear me.

I purchased this mic and simultaneously an Olympus lapel mic. This one is to "cancel external noise," however, the mic is sensitive enough that it picks up the hissing (sort of like low static) of the little recorder it sits on. I wish it had a cord it could mount onto the end of.
