It's bigger than I thought it would be - but that's a good thing! Fits under the kitchen sink quite well - and the snapping lid makes sure (along with the filter) that smells don't escape (and "critters" don't enter)! The size is a bonus in that we don't have to empty daily, unless we want to! Great bargain!

Your compost will eventually end up outside, of course...but until then you need a good place to put it--you know, it doesn't leak, it doesn't smell, it's large enough for a couple weeks worth of compost.
