![]() Rating: - No ON/OFF switch, seriously? It is beyond me how a group of electronic designers built a battery powered device without an ON/OFF switch. I haven't left this on overnight to see if there's a nifty self-timed power-down, but somehow I doubt it. I bought the item because it looked like the one Alton Brown uses, and I've had good luck following that trend. It also had a wide temperature range (32F - 392F) which was hard to find at the retail stores I visited. I was interested in using this as a fry thermometer also. ... The clip was handy for the candy making but it didn't really keep the probe from touching the bottom of the pan unless you angled it just so. It seemed very accurate, even correctly measuring the ambient temp of our house. I agree with other reviewers who felt an on/off switch would have been a nice feature but I would just take the 1 AAA battery out when it went into the drawer. I would just rinse the tip of the probe after ... Try it ....you'll like it. Rating: - Very good productWe had to do a return as the wand part was not working properly. But the return went very smoothly and quickly. The new one works the way it is supposed to. Very nice to have for our oven and our grill. It is a nice Thermometer. Worth every penny. Rating: - Probe is very easily broken! The good aspects of this thermometer are that you can attach it (by magnet) to your stove front and that you can set your target temperature and have it beep to tell you you've reached it. Of course, this is what you want in a digital thermometer. Two problems: one is that you can't ever turn it off (unless you want to take out the battery), and so it's unnecessarily using the battery; the second is that the probe is EXTREMELY sensitive. I'm on my third probe in a few months. Do NOT use with ... Read More Browse for similar items by category:
