I hesitated to review IT'S ONLY TOO LATE IF YOU DON'T START NOW because I only read about 50 pages of it, but most other reviews don't share my views about it. To me, there is an INCREDIBLE amount of padding here!! Over and over again, Sher makes some point that is often a valid one, then goes on and on about it, basically repeating that point over and over needlessly. It's as though she had about 75 pages of ideas to present, but the publisher told her that they wanted a 300 page book, so she added all this padding to get the book out to 300 pages! Thus, after about 50 pages of wasting time I just couldn't take that any more and quit reading. I know that negative reviews are not popular, so I'll probably just get a bunch of "No's" for my efforts, but I thought I should issue a warning in case you're like me and not willing to wade through mountains of padding.

It's an easy read. Everyone should be able to get something of value from the book. The author covers a lot of ground, comparing the first forty years of our life with the possibilities that can come later. She shows how, by examples and gives useful advice.

This is a fun book for middle-age Seekers who are really tired of waiting for their lives to begin! Barbara says it is never too late unless you don't start now. So start by reading this light-hearted book that keeps the to-do list simple yet wonderfully inspirational.
I also don't mind saying I read this book before turning 40. It is now part of my permanent collection of inspirational wisdom books. I think this book can be relevant to anyone at any age who is ready to begin a life of purpose and passion! Barbara is a wonderful guide and motivational writer.

Barbara Sher's words opened up my mind and helped me see my life and the possibilities for it in a new light. I'm 41 and Creating Your Second Life After 40 is perfect for me. If you only new how many hours I have spent pining and chasing after romance thae last 2 years! Her chapter on how our biological drives drive us and happen to rise and fall like peaks in our life gave me a whole new take on what is happening and what to focus on now. Her ideas about life after 40 being hopeful, pleasant and a new time for even more abundant living are the perfect antidote to the symptoms of fear and anxiety myself and am some of my best friends have been experiencing are bang on! I am moving forward with making this time count, too! If you are a woman in search of romance try this book instead.
